Ivy Zhang (Mengyao)
Ivy Zhang (Mengyao) hails from Henan Province, China, and embarked on her academic journey in the United States in 2016, enrolling at St. Mary's High School in Oregon. In the summer of 2018, she enriched her artistic pursuits by participating in UC Berkeley’s Pre-College Scholars painting program. She later pursued a Bachelor of Fine Arts (B.F.A.) in Painting at the Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) from 2021 to 2025, graduating with Summa Cum Laude—a distinction complemented by four consecutive years of academic honor scholarships and Dean's List recognition. Starting in 2025, she will continue her studies at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) to earn a Master of Arts (MA) in Arts and Machine Creativity.
Mengyao’s artistic practice spans a diverse range of mediums: painting, photography, sculpture, installation art, and now AI-generated content (AIGC) creation. Her creative evolution has been marked by a deliberate shift—from traditional painting to tech-driven installation art, and most recently to AIGC—fueled by her curiosity for new challenges and a focus on fostering deeper connections between artworks and audiences, as well as embracing collaborative creation. Drawing inspiration from personal experiences and societal observations, her work consistently blends introspection with experimental exploration.
